Representing beauty and incredible strength the Monolama Cut String Staircase is a modern staircase that is equally suited to both commercial and domestic settings. It has a simple design that is brilliantly executed through the precise engineering and high quality materials used in its manufacture.
The Monolama Staircase features glass or polished hardwood treads, steel strings and a choice of either steel tubes or glass panels for the balustrade. Here are just a few of the many great features of the Monolama Carriage Staircase.
The Strings
The strings of the Monolama staircase are laser cut from steel plates. The side profile of these strings is probably the biggest defining attribute of the Monolama staircase. Most other stairs have standard angled strings at either side of the treads which simply follow the pitch of the stair. The strings on the Monolama staircase have a much slimmer side profile because they are cut along horizontal and vertical lines parallel to the treads and risers in order to reduce excess material and to create an interesting "zig zag" detail. The strings are either made from stainless steel or powder coated mild steel, whichever you prefer.
The Treads
The treads of the Monolama Staircase can either be made from laminated and toughened glass or from 40mm thick boards of top quality hardwood. Glass treads have bevelled and polished edges for safety and hardwood treads are factory finished with two coats of varnish to create a beautifully tough surface. There are a number of standard wood colours for you to choose from or if you prefer you can supply a sample of your own wooden floor and we will match the colour.
The Balustrade
You have can choose between two types of balustrade for the Monolama Staircase. Both use stainless steel newels but there is a choice of either hardwood or stainless steel handrails and either stainless steel tubes or glass panels to close the gaps between.
