The Knock Wood is a new and innovative carriage staircase made by Rintal. The Knock Wood Staircase features thick polished hardwood treads, a customisable hardwood carriage, interchangeable balustrades and even a built in lighting system (optional). The Carriage
The carriage is the main support of the stair and acts like a spine on which the treads sit. The carriage of the Knock Wood staircase is made from a series of hardwood blocks which have been cut into very simple rectangular shapes. As a result the staircase has a clearly defined side profile of clean straight lines and right angles. The blocks also house an optional LED's lighting system which produces a low level and soft light that enhances the sophisticated look of this staircase at night. Each block is fitted with a decorative end cap which can either be a coloured strip or a simple dotted grill to allow light through or blank if the lights are not included.
The Treads
The treads of the Knock Wood Staircase are made from 40mm thick boards of top quality hardwood. They are factory finished with two coats of varnish and are a beautifully tough walking surface. There are a number of standard colours for you to choose from or if you prefer you can supply a sample of your own wooden floor and we will match the colour.
The Balustrade
One of the great things about the Knock Wood Staircase system is that you can pick and choose from many different types of balustrade. There are horizontal steel tubes like in these pictures and also vertical tubes, cables, glass panels and many more beside. Whichever you choose will have a profound effect on the overall style of your staircase and just in case you should ever feel the need to refresh the look of your Knock Wood the balustrades are completely interchangeable.
